After Pregnancy Dilemma of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai is India’s pride, a successful Bollywood star who got married to Abhishek Bachchan, the son of Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

After becoming the daughter in law of India’s best-loved star, she gained a place which is enviable to all stars of the colorful sky of Bollywood.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan found international fame with the Hollywood movie Bride and Prejudice and it was a unique appreciation when Julia Roberts billed her as the world’s most beautiful woman.

Obviously, such fame, popularity and fortune always brings up the notoriety along with it. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is certainly one of the most admired and revered, woman, wife, and daughter-in-law in India, and no doubt in the world.

After Pregnancy Dilemma of Aishwarya Rai

However, the 38 year old star is now facing the price for all this fame after being a mother of a girl child. Since the birth of her daughter in November last year, Aishwarya Rai has maintained that she won’t hurry to lose the few extra pounds she got during her pregnancy.

It wouldn’t have been any issue with any other woman of India but Aishwarya Rai is special and hence, now it is a cause of criticism for her.

The star, who married Abhishek Bachchan, the son of India's most loved film star Amitabh Bachnan in 2007, tipped for her 10th appearance at Cannes next week, furious speculation is mounting as to how she will look.

Critics and commentators are acting unkind to her while lambasting the star and accusing her of letting her fans down.

Some critics claim that she has a duty to her fans to regain her pre-pregnancy figure as soon as possible.
A video was posted on a website in which Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was looking less than her usual svelte self. The video showed many of her photographs of her pre-birth, and her current photographs.

The video clip was titled as ‘Aishwarya Rai’s shocking weight gain’ and it was added with elephant sound effects. The video has already been viewed 500,000 times.

On the same line, dozens of more videos have been posted on Youtube and other social media platforms. Each of those videos has been watched in the tens of hundreds of thousands times by people around the world.

Some of the comments posted by viewers after watching those videos shows how unsympathetic fans can be for their idol.

"She is a Bollywood actress and it is her duty to look good and fit," one said.

Another added: 'She needs to learn from people like Victoria Beckham who are back to size zero weeks after their delivery.'

It seems like weight gain of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has offered a topic for national debate. More than the issue of escalating inflation and depreciating Rupee, tens of hundreds of thousands of people are more worried about the weight gain of Aishwarya Rai. It shows the attitudes held towards women in the Indian public eye.

While explaining all this notoriety engulfing beautiful Aish, show-business columnist Shobhaa De said, “Aishwarya is like a goddess, she is held up as the ideal of beauty and so there is an expectation on her to look perfect at all times.”

Shobhaa De added, “The role models being held up are Angelina Jolie and Victoria Beckham, but our body frames are different – we have wider hips and curves – so this whole business of looking desperately skinny two weeks after giving birth is a western import.”

Shobhaa Dé was explaining all this in the New York Daily News.

According to Shohini Ghosh, a cinema professor, women in India are up against an almost impossible task.
“There is a glorification of motherhood in India and Indian cinema,' he told the paper. “But people are confused because they don't know whether to glorify Aishwarya in her new motherhood or lament that she is not looking like a runway model,” he added.

Obviously, most of her fans fall into the latter category and it can be judged by the cruel comments that are still flooding internet sites.

Still, there is a fan base which is defending Aishwarya Rai, saying that she, like any new mother, should be focusing on her infant, not her diet.

“She is a real women looking after a baby. We should be concern for her health and happiness especially if she is nursing the baby. Not the Western belief of expecting people in the spot light to lose all weight in month. If she dieted what will happen to the baby's diet,” one said.

“That's because Aish is not one of those selfish ones who puts the focus on their bodies instead of their babies, which makes them moody and ineffective as parents,' another said. 'Kudos to you Aish for keeping it real and letting your baby have all the bonding and attention she needs with you. Enjoy your life,” the commenter added.
