Chris Gayle is the known for his bombastic style of batting. The Gaylestorm can take away any fielding team and bowling unit to a ride. While the previous IPL season remained the heroic story of Virat Kohli; Chris Gayle did play his part. However; the flamboyant Jamaican batsman is being missed in the ongoing Big Bash League 2016-17.
When Chris Gayle was inquired about the ICC's proposal regarding regulations over thickness of bats used by batsmen; he suggested that he won't mind. He said; "It doesn't matter. Give me a toothpick, a knife or a fork, I will still hit sixes. Size doesn't matter. Trust me, it is all about the weapon. They can cut down my size, but they can't cut down my sixes.
Recently; Chris Gayle was banned from taking part in Big Bash League 2016 as a fine for his controversial interview with Channel 10 journalist Mel McLaughlin. However; when asked about why he isn't a part of BBL 2016; Chris Gayle informed that it was his personal decision.
He said that this was his daughter's first Christmas and he wanted to be close to her on Christmas and New Year's eve. He said, "I will hug her and kiss her and play around. Ishallah I will reach home safely. I will be in Australia during the New Year for some work. I will play in the other editions (of BBL), Inshallah."
Chris Gayle was asked why is he using the term "Inshallah" so frequently; is he finding attraction towards Islam? For which Chris Gayle answered that for him the term "Inshallah" isn't related to any religion. It is just a term that stuck in his mind while hearing it from many players with whom he is used to play.
Big Bash League is a high octane Australian T20 yearly tournament and everyone would love to see Chris Gayle's pyrotechnics with his bat at every avenue of BBL. In May 2016; Chris Gayle commented that his criticism over the controversial interview with Mel McLaughlin has some racist connotations. However; new tabloids suggested that Chris Gayle is a sexist and saucy cricket mascot.
